Our Mission
Our Mission
To advance scientific understanding, promote conservation, and inspire knowledge of marine animals along the central coast of California.
We are a non-profit organization and dedicated first responder for deceased marine mammals & sea turtles in San Luis Obispo & Santa Barbara Counties.
Deceased marine animals act as alarm bells and provide deep insight into the health of the ocean. We partner with local agencies to perform necropsies (animal autopsies) on stranded whales, dolphins, seals, sea lions & sea turtles.
We collect a wealth of data and conduct scientific studies to monitor marine species and support protection measures for the ocean environment in Central California and abroad.
We take calls directly from the public at our local beaches and give back to the community through outreach programs and planned events. Our goal is to inspire and educate.
We rely on your generosity to support our small team of dedicated responders.
We are partnering with Zeffy to receive 100% of your contributions! Your gifts go directly to marine conservation and outreach programs.

Gentle Warning: Due to the nature of our program, our website contains images of deceased or injured animals. We acknowledge some viewers may be sensitive to these issues. We are happy to provide context for any images displayed. Each animal tells a story and grants knowledge about the ocean and creatures within it.
